Functional housing for surgical visualisation systems
Functional housing in white PEEK for a visualisation system used in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery. The component holds the light guide and cable and is designed for a precise fit, reliable function and high-quality visible surfaces.
The material selection takes account of requirements for reprocessing, resistance to media and sterilisation, including STERRAD NX and autoclaving. The numerous flushing bores on the underside, which require precise mould spotting against the main core, are particularly demanding.
The varying wall thicknesses, undercut geometries, controlled shrinkage and reliable venting – supported on the mould side by vacuum – are critical to the process. Quality assurance includes a 100% visual inspection plus optical and tactile sample inspections.
