PEEK front housing with an overmoulded threaded insert
Front housing part in slate-grey, unreinforced PEEK for a camera visualisation system on a surgical robot. The moulded part serves as the functional interface to the connector housing and is designed for sterilisation, reprocessing, resistance to media and sealing integrity.
The housing is produced in a single-cavity injection mould for high-temperature processing. Precise positioning of the overmoulded brass threaded insert, length compensation within the mould and parting lines with minimal flash and mismatch during PEEK processing are particularly demanding.
The sealing function is supported, among other measures, by an O-ring groove formed by a pair of slides; flash and mismatch at the parting line are tightly controlled. Further sealing surfaces are specified by surface profile tolerances. Quality assurance includes 100% visual inspection plus optical and tactile sample inspections.
