Single-use containment system for pharmaceutical material transfer
Assembly comprising four plastic parts for the closed transfer of pharmaceutical solids, for example in tablet manufacturing. The containment system is designed for safe handling, controlled opening and closing, and reliable sealing during material transfer.
The assembly consists of two-shot couplings in POM and TPE, unreinforced PEEK hinge caps and a transport cover in PS. In the closed state, the soft sealing lips of the two couplings rest against each other and prevent the active ingredient from escaping. Pressing the hinge caps opens the assembly in a controlled manner through elastic deformation of the couplings.
Three injection moulds were built for the project. The couplings are produced in a fully automated two-component injection mould with rotary-table technology, while the hinge caps are produced in a high-temperature mould and the transport cover in a single-shot precision mould. The precise TPE contour for the sealing function and the project-specific containment requirements are particularly relevant.
