Cluster gear with an overmoulded stainless steel shaft for automotive drives
Gear part in tribologically optimised, unreinforced POM for power transmission in the actuator motor of an automotive ancillary unit. The cluster gear is designed for high gear quality, wear resistance and a stable, low-runout connection between the plastic and the shaft.
The high-precision stainless steel shaft is mechanically interlocked with the plastic by means of a knurl and groove. The part is produced by precision injection moulding in a two-cavity injection mould; insert fixing, gating, flash-free reproduction of the tooth geometry with single-tooth correction and a reproducible shaft position are decisive. Parts are checked by optical and tactile sample inspections and by gear rolling inspection.
